Mirror, Mirror- Women, Body Image & Self Hypnosis was “Eye-Opening”

By November 16, 2014 Uncategorized No Comments

An intimate group of 7 women gathered together, November 15, 2014, for a day of Self Awareness and Empowerment. The focus of the workshop was how women see a distortion in the mirror based on prescribed concepts of society, the media and their own personal history. How diet and exercise as channels for the “Ideal Body” have created a backlash. How eating disorders have plagued women for more than 4 decades. Self hypnosis was introduced as a catalyst to reaching a more positive and more calming self image.

Central themes of the day were how to be the best versions of ourselves, see our personal worthiness and beauty from the inside out. How the definition of beauty has changed over history. How fairytales and Barbie Dolls distort a “normal” female body image and how the “fair maiden” always needs to be rescued by “prince charming” and of course, that they live happily ever after. How the “Ugly Duckling” fable has both positive and negative messages.

How distortions of realty are myths that we grow up with form early childhood, when all is real before the age of 7.  How our “scripts” and personal beliefs are set at such a young age and stay with us, often helping us to stay “stuck” in negative emotions and limiting decisions on our potential.

How today’s society is obsessed with outer beauty.  The TED Talk- “Looks Aren’t Everything” – Cameron Russell’s personal experience- as a model, created a bridge for discussion, demystifying what we see throughout the media as real.  That all is a distortion and just a perception of reality.  And that with all their image of beauty, models are often insecure as well.

Reaching the Unconscious Mind is so powerful  and so accessible.  90% of our brain functioning is in the Unconscious Mind and through Hypnosis, so many barriers for positive change and personal growth can be accessed and overcome.

In a relaxed and soothing setting, with a dynamic visual presentation, introspective exercises and an introduction to hypnosis history and techniques, all became relaxed and entered the peaceful state of Trance.  All were engaged and felt calm and empowered with a greater sense of self. All felt they will sleep better and gained a stronger sense of self after this experience.

Here are some comments which describe the women’s experiences.

“The workshop “Mirror, Mirror” focuses on inner and outer beauty and how as women we’ve been programmed to perceive beauty the way society has depicted it for us.

In addition to learning about women’s perceptions, we learned about how we have the ability to change our own perception. This can be done by becoming in touch with your unconscious mind and open to the concept of hypnosis. The thought of hypnosis was always intimidating to me, but after this experience I realized that there is nothing to be fearful of, but rather to be more open to tapping into your unconscious mind .

The overall experience was very interesting and engaging.  I can certainly walk away from this workshop with some new findings and more in touch with my inner self. It has definitely allowed me to clear my thoughts, the focus and fog in my mind. I finally felt I could see the silver ling, gain some perspective and continue on my current path which is certainly in the right direction.

Dina has been inspirational to me and incredibly passionate about her workshop, and it translated in the room. I have learned a great deal. A true mentor, an inspiring woman and qualified.  Thank You Dina”-  Amanda Ferri

I close with a significant message to all from a man’s perspective.

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.” ― Steve Maraboli
